Field Day 2023 scores are in and, as expected, they weren’t good. At least we finished in the upper half of the 3A category. To be exact, we were in the top 48%. That’s pretty good considering all we had to contend with–the blistering heat and lousy band conditions Saturday afternoon along with the storms early Sunday morning. The last three years have not been good to us weatherwise.
That being said, let’s turn the page to 2024 and hope for good weather and conditions. This year’s Field Day will be June 22 and 23.
We’ll still be at SouthBridge Church in Orland Park but it will look a lot different. The GOTA,VHF/UHF, satellite, and food tents are gone with the wind and rain. How we’re going to replace them has yet to be determined. I have a vision and that’s what we’ll be working on over the next few months. Hamfesters Field Day will rise again!
